Show review from The Bay Bridged →
Mist and Mast has at times been a permanent four-piece, but over the long haul has been primarily the product of main guy Jason Lakis. He wrote, played and recorded the band’s self-titled debut, and about half of the second effort, Action at a Distance. Busy week!

THIS SATURDAY at the El Rio
This Saturday (July 2nd) we’re playing at the El Rio. Somehow, the vibe of this place (is it the cheap beer, the huge outdoor patio…not sure) is just right for a great summer drunken weekend show. We’ve got a couple new shows coming up as we put the finishing touches on our new album. Coming up first, we’ll be at the Make Out Room on Saturday, May 7th. This will be a fun, early one. Opening is our bud Brian Sullivan (Dylan in the Movies), then the amazing Pancho San, and finally, us. The whole show is from 7:30 to 9:30, with us being on around 8:30.

We're back...and at the Hemlock Tavern in March
I’ve been busy writing and recording, and will have a set of mostly new songs to play for you on Friday, March 18th at the Hemlock Tavern. This show will feature a bit of a new live band as well. We’ve got our old pal/old bandmate Mike Schmiedt on bass and good buddy Tim Wright on drums. Also playing is The Finches and Coconut.

Studio almost done!
So, you may have been wondering where the hell have we been? Well, I’ve been building a studio from the ground up here in Berkeley with every free minute of evenings and weekends, and it’s almost ready. If anyone has any interest, here’s a gallery of the building process….

Bottom of the Hill show w/ Perfume Genius
Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Hemlock…turned out to be a great night.
And now, back to business…we’re going to play a quiet, acoustic-ish show with Matador’s Perfume Genius and Winfred E. Eye later this month at Bottom of the Hill.

There are a few significant things going on, which will make this a special show…
1. Our drummer and pal Bill is moving to New York, so this will be our last show with him.
2. This will also be our last show as a full band for the rest of this year.
3. We’re playing with our buds Sands and Yeltsin (Eugene, OR), and you really need to catch them both.

The coming few months
Hey y’all,
We’re going to be taking it easy for the next few months, spending time writing and getting demos together for the next album. But we couldn’t pass up a show with our old pals the Radar Bros. which will be happening on June 24th at the Rickshaw Stop. Man/Miracle will also be playing.

Well, it’s been a while but we’re finally playing the East Bay again…this time at the Starry Plough Pub in Berkeley. We’re on second out of a great bill of 4 bands. Also playing is Colossal Yes, The Blank Tapes and Ash Reiter.
